PROGRESS REPORT – 2014 CATHOLIC APPEAL
We are pleased to share that St. Ignatius Parish has raised $45,997 toward our 2014 Catholic Appeal goal
of $76,321. Because of your generosity, we are at 60% of our goal. Your support is deeply appreciated by
Cardinal Sean and by all who benefit from the fifty ministries made possible by the Appeal. We need
everyone’s help. If you have yet to make a pledge, we ask you to prayerfully consider how you can help.
The Appeal Pledge forms are available at the back of the Church.
BOOK DISCUSSION
On June 22nd, in the living room of the parish offices, there will be a discussion of the book The December
Project by Sara Davidson. Publishers Weekly describes this work as the fruit of a series of weekly
conversations conducted over two years between the 60-something journalist Davidson and the
pioneering rabbi, Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. Besides touching on topics like aging well, facing mortality,
and dying, Davidson provides a biographical sketch of Schacter-Shalomi from his narrow escape from
the Holocaust to his encounters with Thomas Merton. Please join us at 11:15 on June 22nd for a discussion
of this interesting work.
CONCERT THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 1ST
Katherine Jillson, Soprano and James Myers, Piano, will perform a collection of songs by Samuel Barber
this Sunday June 1st at 2:30 in the Upper Church. Free and open to all - a reception will follow in the
Friary Room.
THE SPIRITUAL EXERCISES OF ST. IGNATIUS
The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius (19th Annotation Retreat) will be offered next year as a "retreat in
daily life". This journey of prayer continues over thirty weeks beginning on October 5, 2014 and
concluding in May, 2015. This experience involves daily prayer, meetings with a spiritual director, and
bimonthly communal gatherings with faith-sharing. For more information or to register contact Kathy
Maher at Katherine.Maher@bc.edu

CALL FOR PARISHIONERS INTERESTED IN SERVING ON THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
The St. Ignatius Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) seeks new members for a 3 year term beginning
September, 2014. If you are interested in serving on the PPC or know someone else who might be
interested, please contact Tim D’Souza, tim.dsouza@hotmail.com or Brian Maher, maher@bchigh.edu.
The PPC is an advisory body to the Pastor and has as its primary focus assisting the Pastor in planning
for the future of the parish. Updating and monitoring the implementation of the Parish Pastoral Plan is
one of the major functions of the Council, in addition to specific planning initiatives. The PPC aims to be
broadly representative of the parish in its composition. We especially invite young adults (ages 22-40) to
consider serving on the Council.
ARRUPE: HELP FOR FAMILIES FLEEING PERSECUTION
The Church stands in solidarity with refugee families and forced migrants around the world. The Jesuit
Refugee Service, the USCCB Migration and Refugee Services and many other Church organizations help
them through accompaniment, education, pastoral care, advocacy, and resettlement assistance.
This is also the ministry of the ARRUPE group at St. Ignatius Parish. On June 20th, the United Nations
will observe World Day for Refugees. On the weekend of June 21st and 22nd , ARRUPE members will be
collecting at the door after each liturgy to fund their refugee support activities. Watch for refugee films
that same weekend!
Support ARRUPE:
Pray for refugees and those who assist them.

y a tu modo misterioso
sigue siendo el Amor
que arropa nuestra desnudez. y sostiene nuestros sueños.
José Ma Rodríguez Olaizola, sj
Sinceramente,
Padre Bob
