Once again we invite you to consider joining our Book Discussion Group that will be hosted by Frs. Bob and J.A. at the Jesuit residence (130 Beacon Street). We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7: 30 – 9:00

P.M. starting on March 4th and ending on April 22nd.

There are two weeks when we will not meet

(March 11 th

and April 1 st

). The book we have chosen is a marvelous new one by Professor Amy-Jill Levine called Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi (N. Y.: Harper Collins,

2014).

The author is University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity

School. She describes herself as “a Yankee, Jewish feminist who teaches in a predominantly Christian divinity school in the buckle of the Bible belt.” Reviewers have called the book “brilliant,” one to

“change how you think about Jesus and the stories he told,” and one that “belongs next to your bible.” It should be a great read and discussion. The book is be available in selected bookstores and on

Amazon.com.

Space, as always, is limited. Please indicate your desire to join us by contacting Betty in the office at Ignatius@bc.edu or through 617-552-6102 as soon as possible. Any questions? Feel free to contact either Fr. Bob or Fr. J.A.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES

CRS RICE BOWL COUNTRY OF THE WEEK: TANZANIA

Catholic Social Teaching Focus:

Sacredness and Dignity of the Human Person

More than 70 percent of farmers in Tanzania work on plots of land smaller than three acres.

In the United States, the average farm size is 441 acres. Soybeans are used to make poultry feed, which is in high demand in Tanzania, where the poultry industry is growing rapidly. A domestic soybean industry is attractive to poultry feed manufacturers, who, by buying from organized groups, are able to produce a higher quality product for less money than they would be able to with imported soybeans or feed made from fish. CRS works with 11,250 soybean farmers in Tanzania through Soy ni Pesa, increasing their harvest and connecting them with marketing groups.

CRS RICE BOWL

is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten faith-in-action program for families and faith communities. Through CRS Rice Bowl, we hear stories from our sisters and brothers in need worldwide and devote our Lenten prayers, fasting and gifts to help change their lives. CRS Rice

Bowls/Lenten Calendars are now available on the Outreach table or on the table in the Lannon

Chapel.

IF IT’S (OR WILL BE) MARCH, IT MUST BE SOCKS AND FLIP-FLOPS!

This year, we’ll again conduct a month-long drive to provide new white socks and new shower flip-flops to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program for use at its many foot care clinics Boston. Our drive dates are March 1st-March 29th.

SHATTUCK FOURTH TUESDAY

is this week. Your dessert donation will be most welcome! Please bring it to the Parish Office by 4PM. Thank you for your ongoing support of our long-time ministry to the Guests at Pine Street Inn Shattuck Shelter.

HABITAT BUILD:

We will again be supporting Habitat for Humanity Greater

Boston in its mission to provide affordable housing for deserving families by spending a Saturday working at a Habitat building site in a Boston neighborhood.

That date is March 21st and we need more builders! If you would like to be part of our Build

Team, please contact Anton Finelli, afinelli@crmcx.com, or Sr. Diane Vallerio, vallerio@bc.edu.

La Página Hispana

Queridos Parroquianos,

íntimamente a Nuestro Salvador, Jesucristo.

Padre Bob
