DESCRIPTION:
Orange County Department of Social Services has an immediate need for a Human
Services Coordinator. This position is responsible for coordinating the assigned human
services program(s), providing basic services to a specialized caseload as well as providing
direct human services.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Coordinates the assigned human services program(s) and is responsible for effective
program delivery. Develops plans for accomplishing program objectives, staffing
requirements, and allotment of funds to various program components. Performs
recordkeeping, reviews program progress and needs, participates in goal setting and
program evaluation. Serves as technical resource to agency staff, clients, and community
organizations.
Determines eligibility, conducts assessments, develops plans to provide basic services to
meet clients’ needs, and explains available services and programs. Makes referrals to
appropriate personnel, department or partnering agencies. Prepares case documentation
and required reports. Consults with coworkers to review clients’ progress, resolve problems
and monitor quality of service. Plans and conducts meetings, training and other activities for
staff members.
Researches information for program and client needs. Assists in evaluating statistical
reports in order to determine whether agency goals are being met; compiles information in
order to complete reports; proposes new procedures in order to make division more
efficient.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's
degree in a human services field, such as social work, public assistance,
counseling or psychology; or a Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in

counseling or in a related human services field that provides experience in
techniques of counseling, casework, group work, or community organization.
Possession of, or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the
State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
