DESCRIPTION:
Social Services has an immediate opening for a Social Worker II for its Work First Program.
This position is crucial in assisting families meet the Work First State and Federal
Participation Rate Goal. Additional functions include providing emergency assistance
services, home visits, in-depth interviewing and gathering/documenting information to
determine if families meet Employment Services Mutual Agreement requirements.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Provides intensive case management and supportive counseling to at-risk families;
Reassess clients every three months utilizing the Family Strength and Needs assessment
tool;
Conducts intensive complex case management assessments of cases involving multiple
problems with clients to assure clients are in compliance with Federal and State Work
First Regulations in relation to participation rates and other State and Federal goals;
Assists public assistance applicants and recipients to improve their employability through
education, training and supportive services;
Coordinates needed supportive services and make referrals to community resources;
Handles the responsibility for clear, concise documentation in client's records to meet the
Work First Program guidelines;
Performs daily monitoring of program; maintains monthly reports; enters data accurately
into computer system for all case records; completes timesheets and travel reimbursement
sheets; maintains training log and monthly data collection log.
Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as referrals for At Risk Case
Management services, abuse and neglect screenings, daily attendance and tardy report,
requests for emergency assistance, and requests for suicide assessments.
Performs assessments to identify needs and develops appropriate service plans with each
participant; provides counseling related to education, training, and employment
opportunities;
Develops, coordinates, and monitors all services required to assist participants to
reach goals; establishes and maintains working relationships with community
agencies, and; participates in group meetings and outreach activities.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in
human services field, social work or related field and one to three years of social work or
counseling experience.
Requires possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State
of North Carolina.
*Possesses knowledge of community resources to assist clients in becoming employed and
self-sufficient is preferred*
Transports clients as needed (or coordinates transportation) to appointments, interviews, and other
supportive services.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
This is a Safety Sensitive position, pre-employment drug test is required.
