(Becky) Proposed adding the Minutes to the RHS blast. (John) Presented the “thank you” letter for donations based on the format of the District 196 letter, which is currently used by the school to thank donors. (John) Reported back on Yearbook – yearbook advisor provided feedback regarding inserts – costs could go up. Social Media is sited as more important to get current information and the reason why an insert would not be needed. Opinion of the committee is to have John discuss this with the Student Council and report back. (Becky) Also called for researching the cost of the insert. (John) Reported the bush discussed as an obstruction of the stop sign at the Chili Avenue entrance has been cut down. 7:05 – 7:07 (Mary) Benefit Fund Presentation. December Fund Balance remains roughly the same at $15,122.07 ($0.39 interest). Give to the Max money and matching amount has not yet been received or deposited. John will follow up with the Foundation’s bank. 7:08 (John) No District Parent Leader Meeting Report this month, because there was not a meeting in December. 7:08 – 7:19 (John) Review of Irish Flex Day. The large group Enrichment session included a presentation to the students of all grades by Walter Bond – former U of M Basketball player – mixed reviews by students. Teacher survey results from the day seem to show growing support of Flex Days from Teachers. (Becky) Requests adding Flex Day on school calendars. 7:19 – 7:37 (Becky) Introduction to the Advisory Updates. (John) Reports that tardies RHS Site Council – Bret Phillips, Secretary 2012 and absences have reduced from last year (0.6% and 5.1% respectively). Web advertising has not yet started. We continue to wait on the teacher/student indentified for this project. (John) Registration for current students will begin 1/30 and close 2/6. 8th Grade visits and registrations are also ready to begin. The RHS Registration Website is a great source of needed information for this process. (John) Reports that the Sun Newspaper lists RHS as best public school. (John) Discussion of the district’s Young Scholars visit to RHS to see a preview of On Stage. This activity provided Young Scholars, experience and understanding of school productions. 7:37 – 7:47 (Becky) Call for Site Council Table volunteers for upcoming (1/26, 1/27) conferences. Food and supply donations will again be collected. Money donations to be allocated for calculators. 7:47 – 7:42 Open Dialogue. Discussion of Pep Fest activity and the unfavorable media coverage. (John) No ill intentions by faculty and parents. John has apologized to the school community. 8:01 – 8:30 Fundraising. (Becky) St. Patrick’s Day last year yielded $500. Drive One 4Ur School earned $900. (John) Discussed Rosemount Rotary involvement. (Jeanette) Focus Research – still seeking involvement. (John) Discussion of how to use money beyond awarding scholarships. Cost to add another year long class section $6,500 (extra section for an existing teacher– much more affordable and attainable than adding another teacher). Discussion of soliciting local and surrounding businesses for another St. Patrick’s Day benefit – approved. Call for volunteers – (Bret, John). Goal: Match last year’s numbers. Discussion how The Site Council Scholarships are awarded – last year used a random drawing from the entire pool of Seniors (who intended to go to school beyond high school. 8:30 Meeting Adjourned
