hearts fill the walls leading to the media center! WE LOVE TO READ!
WAX MUSEUM
After spending time researching
an important person in history the
5th graders will be hosting a Wax
Museum, and 5th grade parents
are invited to attend.
Each 5th grader will be dressed as the person
they researched. They will have a speech and
poster board ready to present.
When visitors press a button they have created
they will “come alive” and give their speech.
Fifth grade parents are invited to visit their
child’s classroom and other 5th grade classrooms on Friday, March 23 from 2:30-3:30pm.

VOLUNTEER CORNER
February may be a short month, but there was no shortage
of volunteers for the many activities at Rosemount Elementary this month.
As a start, thank you to Jennie Marcus & Annie Miga for
coordinating the much appreciated Conference dinners for
the staff. Thanks also to all the parents for bringing in
food items and/or donating money. Next, thank you to all
the volunteers, adults & youth, who helped at the PTO
sponsored Family Fun Night. It’s a big event and everyone
working together made it such a huge success.
A big thanks goes to Sarah Rothstein and the parents who
helped with Spring Picture Day and did their best to make
the students look great for their photos, including my
child! Thank you to Kelly Holland, Mina Cruz, and Barb Hester for coming every week to check minutes, cut out paper
hearts and hand them out for “I Love to Read” month. The
students have read so many minutes that there’s not much
undecorated wall space in the library hallway. If you can,
check out the colorful walls soon since the hearts will come
down in early March. Thank you to all the parents who
helped in the library with shelving books and other duties.
The students and staff enjoy the many wonderful books
and materials available at the RES library, but there’s always a need to keep things in order. Thank you also to the
parents who helped supervise the classes during the Box
Top movie parties. These students brought in the most
Box Tops and got to enjoy Scooby Doo and popcorn in the
gym.
Patty Grunklee, Rosemount Elementary Volunteer Coordinator, RESVolunteer@gmail.com
The Phy. Ed. classes at RES will jump rope for the American Heart Association’s
“Jump Rope For Heart” fundraiser during class time on
March 14th and 15th. Donations gladly accepted payable to the American Heart Association.
Use of e-mail at Rosemount Elementary School:
We value effective communication at our school. The use of e-mail has increased over the last few years. Most of our staff members do not
have their e-mail accounts open during the school day while they are working with students. As stated in our handbook: The staff at RES
have an agreement to reply to e-mails within two school days. If your need to communicate with a staff member is urgent, please call the
school office (651-423-7690) and we will relay your message to the appropriate person.

Box Top Blitz
Update –
During our
weeklong blitz
the students
brought in 13,645 tops. This was an amazing
amount that blew away our goal of 10,000. The
last competition will be later this spring. Our goal
will be to collect another 36,000. This will exceed our challenge goal of 100,000 box tops. If
we hit this goal, Mr. Idstrom has agreed to sit in a
dunk tank!!! We are also hopeful of recruiting a
couple other teachers to join in the fun.
Parents please consider registering on the Box
Tops website;( www.boxtopsforeducation.com)
they offer contests where you can win extra box
tops or trips, coupons that you can print out, as
well as other information on the program. You
can also track our school progress throughout the
year.
For those that shop via Box Tops Marketplace,
you can print out your earnings and send them
along during the spring competition. So far
through the marketplace we have earned $46.00
(460 box tops) from this program.
Thank You for the tremendous support this year.
If you have any ideas on how to make the program better, or improve our competitions please
let us know.
Maggie Riley and Becky Pasch
Family Fun Night was a huge success this
year, and that is thanks to a lot of hard
work from many people. Thanks to the volunteer coordinator, Patty Grunklee,
for orchestrating the evening.
Also a thank you to the other volunteers as well: Kim Beslin, Jen Vetter, Sara Gnan, Kristina Horner, Cori
Young, Becky Pasch, Nikole Kestner, Stacy Ross, Nancy Asmus, Nikki Babcock, Kathy Mann, Shannon Hjelmstad, Sarah
Rothstein, Kathi Engebretson, and Cub Scouts of Pack 270.
Finally, a big thank you to all the parent volunteers and
teachers that helped serve dinner and run the activities
during the evening. For some, it’s not so easy helping out
when you also have kids to watch, work to hurry home from,
older kids activities that don't schedule around
RES activities, and other obligations. So thank you to those
who can, and do help.
I encourage you to come to the next PTO meeting on Tuesday, March 6th at 6pm. As always, child care is provided by
the excellent help we receive from the National Honor Society high school students. My kids love going to the PTO
meeting so they can interact and play WITH those highschool students (they don't just watch them). I hope to see
you (and your kids) there.

Scholastic Book Fair –
We just completed our winter book fairs and they
were a great success. Thank You to all the volunteers
that helped with setup and teardown, as well as
worked a shift or two during our fairs. With the
amount of books purchased we were able to earn over
$2,000 in free books for the school. This money will
be used to purchase books for the classrooms as well
as the library. So far this year we have earned over
$6,000 in books for the school. The last book fair of
RES Needs Used Laser and
Ink Cartridges!
Did you know that there are currently 12 staff members who participate in a laser and ink cartridge recycle program? If each of them had 10 cartridges a
month to turn in, they could save our school $2,880
each year! Unfortunately they have not been getting
enough cartridges turned in to get the full amount
each month! So we need your help. Please get the word
out just like you have for the boxtops.
the school year will be a BOGO event! In addition to
getting a great deal in books the school will also earn
10% of the sales. Watch future ledgers for information on the dates for this sale.
