In accordance with Hampton City Schools Policy
1 . Students will show respect to their classmates, teachers, and all others in the classroom.
This means you will raise your hand to be recognized , you will not get out of your seat without permission , and you will be attentive at all times .
2 . Students will come to class prepared . This means that you will have all your supplies, and assignments, and will be ready to work. Failure to do so will affect your grade.
3 . Once class begins, students will not be permitted to leave class unless it is an emergency.
Students will remain seated until dismissed. Students are to be judicious with their use of the bathroom. This privilege should not be abused.
4 . Students will maintain an organized notebook with this signed syllabus as the first page.
Random notebook checks will affect your grade. Your Notebook will be divided into three sections. Notebook order is as follows:
- Section 1 - Notes
- Section 2 - Vocabulary
- Section 3 - Graded Work (tests and quizzes)
5 . Homework assignments will be turned in at the beginning of the period. If you turn in work late, you will lose ten (10) points per day for every day you fail to turn it in. This does not mean the next class meeting, it means the next day.
6. There will be daily reading assignments for homework as well as vocabulary words. Students will take periodic quizzes during the class periods on the reading assignments and learned material.
7. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to obtain and complete the reading assignment. Quizzes given on this assignment will be taken with the entire class.
8 . Assignments missed due to absence must be collected the day you return. This is your responsibility. Depending on the length of the absence, we will determine how much time you have to make up the work.
9. I am here to help you. Feel free to ask questions. I am available in Classroom C13 before and after school if there are any questions.
Your first participation grade will be to read/sign this page and have your parent/guardian read/sign it as well. This is so we all understand what is expected of you. When you bring the signed syllabus, I will sign it as well. This syllabus is to be the first page in your notebook. If it is missing, you will lose participation points.
