Course Content


This course meets four days each cycle and will cover the CC Geometry curriculum, which culminates in
the CC Geometry exam in June.
A midterm exam is administered in January.
Goal Setting



We will be using engrade.com
Part of your responsibility in this class is to log into engrade and check your grade. You will see a
comment at progress time reminding you and your parent to periodically check engrade.
Use engrade to set goals for yourself.
Tests/Quests/Quizzes


All assessments are announced. Each quarter your grade will be based on tests and quizzes (about 300
points) and homework (about 50 points).
Make-ups will only be given if you are legally absent on the day of the exam. If you have been present
for all material taught, you are responsible for making up the test during the next scheduled class
meeting.
Homework







Assigned daily and checked at the beginning of each class period.
Not accepted if you’re late to class.
Factored into your grade at the end of the quarter
Homework should be done in pencil, and corrected in pen.
Homework should be completed in such a way that the reader can easily discern the question asked, the
work done, and the final answer.
Students who are legally absent from class will have one week to complete assignments given during
their absence. It is your responsibility to follow through with this and show it to me.
Homework is counted approximately 50 points each quarter.
There is a positive correlation between homework and achievement, so it’s in your best interest to value
completing your homework well.
Calculators
You are required to have your TI-84 calculator in class daily. We’ll be using it often.
Compass
You are required to have your compass in class daily. We’ll be using it often.
Grading

You accumulate points through assignments. Each quarter your grade will be determined by the
following formula:
 EarnedPts. 

100
 TotalPts. 
Students are required to read pages 9 and 10 of the student agenda to be familiar with the 85% rule. Missing 5
classes may result in an F*. Only excused absences may have the time made up.
Rules




Be on time. If you are excessively late, you will incur time in the tank during your unscheduled time.
NO CELL PHONES IN CLASS. Your cell phone must be TURNED OFF and in your pocket or
backpack. Every generation has its own challenges of exercising self-restraint. I know it’s difficult. If I
see it out, I will take it from you and give it to your assistant principal.
No food or drink in class.
Instructional time is very valuable. Therefore, I ask that you go to the bathroom before class.
Time on Task


Don’t “dilly dally.” As soon as class begins, complete the do now and take your homework out.
Listen attentively and take thorough notes.
Suggestions for Organization


I suggest you get a binder with three dividers for this class. Label the sections: notes, handouts, and
homework. Date everything and keep in chronological order.
After an exam, remove the unit and file at home. Put each unit in a separate file folder and label it. Keep
your units in chronological order.
