*Spelling- ABC Order. Using the paper provided
please put the spelling words in alphabetical order.
*Math- - Lesson 2.2. Model Taking Away. Follow
the directions on the page.
Thursday
*Spelling-Spelling sentences. Using the paper
provided please write 5 simple sentences using your
Spelling Words. One word per sentence please!
Study for test tomorrow!

Try to find time to attend Church with your family.
This week in first grade is another very busy week for us! In Language Arts we are practicing
words with the short /o/ as in octopus and are reading a story the students are sure to love,
“Curious George goes to School”. In Math, we are starting our unit on Subtraction. In Religion,
we are learning about the Blessed Trinity and spending time practicing the Sign of the Cross.
We are practicing a lot of phonics and handwriting and reviewing the skills from Kindergarten.
We want to make sure that their foundation the their Kindergarten skills is very strong. Lastly,
in Grammar we are learning about nouns and possessive nouns and are now starting to learn
action verbs.
Please make sure that you are sending your child’s homework and DWP back to school every
day. If it is not homework or it has been graded then it can stay at home.
Please talk to your students at home about following the school rules, especially the rule about
keeping your hands to yourself. We have had a lot of problems with the students pushing, and
hitting and playing to rough on the recess yard. I wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt so please
reinforce these rules at home, as we are really working hard on them at school. Thank you for
your help on this.
