write your spelling words in alphabetical order.
*Math-Extra Practice. Follow the directions on the
page.
*Spelling-Sentences. Use the paper provided and
write 5 sentences using your spelling words.
*Math- Math Test Today! Do IXL review on
Subtraction concepts D.1, D.2, and D. 11

This week is a review week in 1st Grade. We are reviewing all of the vowel sounds we
have learned so far, as well as learning the short vowel sound /u/. We are reading the
story, Gus takes the Train. In Math, we are finishing up the chapter on Subtraction and
taking our chapter test on Thursday. We are still learning about the Holy Trinity in
Religion, and in Social Studies we are talking about community helpers. This month
October is also Fire Safety Month so we are talking a lot in class about Fire Safety and
the job firefighters do to keep us safe. We had have a visit from a real firefighter today!
Talk to your children about where the smoke detectors are in your house and emergency
exits to keep them safe.
Please make sure that your child is bringing their homework folder back and forth to
school each day. Inside should be their DWP and their homework from the night before.
Be sure that you are clearing out any work from the day to keep their folders neat and
organized. Also, know that they have homework Monday-Thursday night. Please make
sure that your child does his or her homework and brings it back the next day. Thank you
for your help on this.
