JOB DESCRIPTION FINANCIAL DELEGATION: POSITION TITLE: PORTFOLIO: IT Computer Laboratory Technician Academic Services REPORTS TO: ROLES REPORTING TO THIS ONE: Head Teacher, Information Technology Location: Nil PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: 1. This position supports teachers and students in developing, configuring, and implementing the computer laboratories used in the IT Systems Diploma as an integral part of the instructional process KEY CHALLENGES: Maintain the operation of the computers and the network, supervision of IT laboratory equipment and facilities. Keeping asset records of IT equipment and maintaining laboratory supplies. Maintaining the security of the IT laboratories. Assist students by demonstrating the proper use of the equipment and how to use the hardware and software to finish assignments. Provide technical support for any problems that arise in the laboratories. Responsible for the cleanliness of the IT laboratories to ensure safety and proper working conditions for users and proper maintenance of the computers. Provide backup of software and perform equipment repairs or arrange for repairs to be completed. Provide on-going assistance to students and teachers; perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. To advise the Head Teacher on serviceability and IT investment planning Maintain Cisco Academy equipment. Set up and implement Active Directory, troubleshoot hardware/software problems on PC-based Microsoft operating systems Understand and Maintain web server implementation and configuration. Advise the Head Teacher on client software installation and licensing requirements Manage database installation and configuration ( MSSQL, MySQL ) Configure disaster recovery tools and hardware Manage PC hardware and software maintenance practices. FREEDOM TO ACT: Teachers are accountable to Head Teachers for: teaching and assessing students; developing teaching and assessment resources; maintaining student and course records; and Advising any issues relating to students. document1 KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience of working in an educational environment for at least two years Experience of working with CISCO equipment Experience of Active Directory installation and implementation, troubleshooting on Microsoft Operating Systems, Disaster Recovery Tools and software Experience of MS SQL and MySQL Experience of web server implementation and configuration Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to interpret technical support for teacher’s/student’s learning outcomes in the IT Laboratory Ability to manage troubleshooting and disaster recovery tools and software Ability to work without direct supervision with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills Ability to speak Arabic language Knowledge of web server implementation and configuration, database configuration Understanding of the issues related to working with students in terms of vocational education and training QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 High School Certificate IELTS 5.0 Academic Hardware and Service maintenance Certificate ( A+ )s CCNA Certificate MCSE Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University KEY RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTIONS: Students – to provide quality education outcomes Teachers – to provide support and share resources Head Teachers – to develop resources and provide student results in a timely manner
