Senior Manager – Water Operations Finance
Position Overview:
The position will be predominately located at Mitchell, however on occasions you may be
required to work at other sites within the ACT. The primary role of this position is to provide
a range of management accounting services with the assistance of your team members to the
Executive, Senior and Project Managers.
Your duty to your employer includes an obligation to carry out your work in a way that does
not put ACTEW in breach of any legislative or regulatory obligations. ACTEW will have the
responsibility to provide suitable training and to make you aware of the legal obligations
relevant to your work.
This position will report to the Senior Manager Water Operations Finance who in turn reports
to the ACTEW CFO.

Duties & Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the position will be

Responsibility for all management accounting matters relating to all ACTEW cost
centres. This includes ensuring end of month accruals are processed in a timely
manner, monthly results are reviewed and any anomalies investigated and corrected
and financial results for all cost centres and projects are reported accurately and in a
timely fashion each month.









Co-ordinate the ACTEW budget and forecast process throughout the year.
Liaise with cost centre Finance Officers, Cost Centre Senior Managers and Project
Managers and respond to queries / concerns they may have about financial results,
budgets, forecast and operational projects.
Prepare summarised financial information packs monthly for Executive and Senior
Managers
Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
Investigate and correct any anomalies in results
Assist in the preparation of regulatory submission and other statutory returns
Investigate operational processes and suggest and implement improvements which
improve efficiencies and costs to the business.
Undertake ad-hoc tasks as required by the Senior Manager Water Operations Finance
and CFO.
Ensure all work is performed with regard to the health and safety of yourself, your
colleagues and protects and minimises any harm to the environment. You will be
responsible for the HS&E implications of your own actions and have a duty to carry
out work consistent with Always Safe procedures. You will take steps to rectify on
own initiative, and then report any hazards identified in the workplace. If applicable
undertake and participate in HS&E initiatives including: obtain/maintain current first
aid qualifications, fire warden qualifications, HS&E Always Safe Committee role,
participate in workplace inspections, audits etc
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
 Possess tertiary accounting qualification/s
 Must be CA/CPA qualified.
 Knowledge of/ relevant experience in using account types (Assets, Liabilities, Revenues,
Expenses, Owners Equity), budgeting, preparing accounting journals, invoicing
 Experience using a computerised accounting software package is desirable (ORACLE)
 Experience using Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Office and TM1 (Word, PowerPoint)
