Photosynthesis: 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy  C6H12O6 + 6 O2
In other words:
6 carbon dioxide + 6 water + sunlight  1 glucose sugar + 6 oxygen
Plants need
water for
photosynthesis
Plants also need
sunlight … but
not too much.
Plants get the
carbon dioxide
from the air.

Fermentation: Glucose  CO2 + waste product (ethyl alcohol, lactic acid)
Yeast cells that use
fermentation
produce ethyl
alcohol as a waste
product
Certain Bacteria cells
and some Animal cells
(muscle cells especially)
can use fermentation,
and when they do, they
produce lactic acid.
Remember, you’re
too young for
alcohol, and it is no
good for you
anyway.
