Alen Field Development – Phase II
Project Description:
Noble Energy Equatorial Guinea Ltd. is developing the Aseng and Alen prospects off the coast of
Equatorial Guinea. The Alen prospect is a gas condensate field 50 km east of Bioko Island in 238
ft. (72.5m) water depth.
There are two distinct phases in the Alen field development.
Phase 1: Transportation and Installation of a well head platform jacket (WHP) already performed in
October 2011.
Phase 2: Transportation and Installation of the WHP Topside and a central production platform
(CPP) in the first quarter of 2013.
Mustang Engineering located in Houston is the designer contracted by Noble Energy, while the
fabrication will be executed by J. Ray McDermott at their yards in Amelia, Louisiana.
As part of phase 2, the CPP jacket and piles will be transported from Amelia, Louisiana to
Equatorial Guinea on the H-404 barge, then installed by the Thialf.
Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland BV (HMC) have been awarded by Noble Energy for the
Grillage and Seafastening design for CPP Jacket and CPP piles on the H-404 barge.
Position
:

BG Exploration and Production India Limited
Panna New SPM System and Pipeline Project
Project Description:
Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and BG Exploration and
Production India Limited (BGEPIL) are joint operators of the Panna-Mukta offshore oil and gas
production field situated in the Arabian Sea, off the west coast of India near Mumbai. The Panna
Field is located 95 km offshore northwest of Mumbai, India. The average water depth in the field is
154 ft (47 m). Panna & Mukta fields have twelve well head platforms and a Processing Platform
(PPA). PPA is bridge connected to PA wellhead platform in East, PQ living quarter platform in
North and PFP flare platform in South direction.
Oil and gas produced from all the wellhead platforms are brought to PPA through pipelines for
processing. The production from PL, a new wellhead platform which is already installed, will also
be routed to PPA.
Panna oil stabilization is carried out at PPA platform in 3 stages. This stabilized oil is then pumped
to the bridge-connected PA platform via dry oil booster pumps. This oil is metered at PA in the
LACT (Lease Automatic Custody Transfer) unit. The metered oil is sent to the export tanker via a
12-inch pipeline.
Present Panna SPM facility is located east of PA platform at about 1.54 km straight distance from
PA platform. Approximately 40,000 bpd of processed oil is loaded from Panna processing facility to
a tanker via SPM. The 12-inch oil export pipeline is installed on PA east face and is connected to a
PLEM. The PLEM is connected to the buoy via subsea hoses. The oil export pipeline is nearing the
completion of its design life of 25 years while the buoy is a stock buoy of 326 MT rated capacity.
Under New Panna SPM project, it is planned to install a new SPM system. The new SPM system
will be designed for handling normal production of 40,000 bpd of oil production and maximum flow
of 75,000 bpd. The entire system will be rated for the dry oil booster pumps’ shut off pressure of
170 psig.
The subsea pipeline length will be approximately 3 km up to the PLEM. A subsea pig receiver will
also be installed. The oil will be sent from the PLEM to the SPM via subsea hoses, and from SPM
to the export tanker through floating hoses. The entire SPM and PLEM system will be designed to
facilitate both double banking and tandem mooring of the export tanker.
