SPI 2.1.2 Describe examples of lines, shapes, colors, textures, form, and space. I Can Statements: I can create and describe different kinds of lines. Accommodations for students, both regular and special populations : Higher level learners may create a pattern with line and color. Lower level learners may need the teacher to guide them as they draw their lines. The teacher will also give one-on-one demonstrations when we begin painting. Unit Vocabulary: Line Daily Agenda Monday Talk about “magic carpets” Review different kinds of lines Demonstrate how to draw lines to make magic carpet design Students will draw different kinds of lines on their magic carpets Begin painting, if we have time Review, clean up Resources, Technology, Formative and/or Summative Assessments, Assignments, and a Daily Activity for citing text based evidence in conversations and/or writing Materials: watercolor paper, crayons/oil pastels, watercolor paint Formative assessments: Students will use the appropriate materials responsibly. Students will draw different kinds of lines on their paper. Summative assessment: Students’ papers will be filled with different kinds of lines, in different colors. Most of the paper will be painted in with watercolor paints. Formative assessments: Students will use materials (paint) responsibly. Students will paint different kinds of lines on their paper. Students will identify and describe different kinds of lines. Summative assessment: Students will have painted a variety of lines with black paint on their paper. The remaining white space will be painted in with different colors. 2
