SPI 2.1.2 Use chosen elements of art (LINE). I Can Statements : I can create letters using different kinds of lines. I can write my name using different kinds of lines. Accommodations for students, both regular and special populations : Higher level learners will be encouraged to create a pattern with their chosen colors. Lower level learners may need assistance putting each letter in the correct order and tracing each letter in crayon. The teacher will give one-on-one demonstrations with the watercolor paints, if needed. Unit Vocabulary: Line Shape Daily Agenda Resources, Technology, Formative and/or Summative Assessments, Assignments, and a Daily Activity for citing text based evidence in conversations and/or writing 1 Monday Review using lines to make letters Finish folding papers Write letters with pencil first, then trace with crayon Talk about uppercase and lowercase letters Demonstrate how to use watercolor paints Start painting Review, clean up We will refer to the Alphabet poster when reviewing uppercase and lowercase letters. Formative assessments: Students will use materials in a responsible manner. Each letter will touch the top and bottom of the appropriate rectangle (no little letters). Students will use different kinds of lines to create each letter. Students will write their name and paint their paper NEATLY. Summative assessment: The finished project will have one letter in each rectangle. Each letter and rectangle will be painted with different colors. Students will have used a variety of lines to make each letter and will have neatly painted their paper. Students will be able to describe the different kinds of lines they used in their work.
