[Agency] recognizes the hazards of lead-based paint and adheres to HUD’s Housing
Quality Standards inspection for all assisted units, conducted prior to move-in and
annually thereafter, to ensure that in assisted units built prior to 1978 which will be
occupied by a child under 5, all interior surfaces are free of cracking, scaling, peeling,
chipping, and loose paint, or have been adequately treated and covered to prevent
exposure to the occupants. Please refer to 24 CFR Part 35 for the full regulation
