I am here to help you in any way that I can, but I want you to understand that cheating is wrong and it will not help you to be successful in the long run. Cheating can get you in serious trouble. Cheating is unfair to you and your classmates. Cheating can lead to more cheating. Cheating destroys trust and compromises the teacher/student relationship. What is considered cheating? Copying homework from someone or from an answer key. Letting someone copy your homework. Copying from someone on a test or quiz. Letting someone copy from you on a test or quiz. Getting/giving information about a test or quiz you are going to take from someone who already took it. Using your calculator on a test or quiz when you are instructed not to. Bringing in information to a test that you are not permitted to, ie. cheat sheets/info on calculator or phone. What in NOT considered cheating? Studying together for tests and quizzes. Helping a classmate with homework. (NOT copying) Lending notes to someone who was absent. Using the back of the book or the TI-89 to check answers. If you witness your friend/classmate cheating. What should you do? Let them know it is wrong. Help the person to contact a dean, a teacher or parent who can help provide alternatives before the situation worsens and the consequences become more severe. “No one can cheat you out of ultimate success but yourself.” Ralph Waldo Emerson http://pbskids.org/itsmylife//school/cheating/article5.html Adapted from Linda Rich
