An order of merit may be established from this process, valid for 12 months. Claim Managers in Comcare’s Long-term Claims Group manage workers’ compensation claims from Australian government employees who were injured at work or became ill before 2002. The role’s primary focus is on determining entitlements to compensation on long-term claims. You will liaise with employers, injured workers, doctors, specialists, rehabilitation providers and other allied health specialists. Claim Managers report to an APS 6 Team Leader. Excellent customer service and well developed decision-making skills are critical to the success of this position. Interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures to the management of claims made under the provisions of the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988; 2. Undertake operational and administrative tasks including exercising delegations in accordance with appropriate legislation, policy and procedures, providing technical assistance and procedural guidance; 3. Communicate and liaise effectively with stakeholders within and external to Comcare; 4. Contribute to the process of quality assurance and continuous improvement within Comcare; 5. Participate in corporate learning and development activities; and 6. Work in a team environment and contribute to team goals, including some management responsibilities for less experienced team members. Selection criteria 1.
