The Role Overview of the role The position of Assistant Director Bullying & Harassment is an important and strategic role as part of the leadership group of NSW/ACT Regional Services. Regional Services is part of Comcare’s Work Health and Safety Group, This role has three main areas of responsibility. As a leader with a good understanding of regulation and compliance you will provide input into local and national customer service strategies and undertake a leadership role. You will lead and mentor a small team (2-3) to conduct enquires and investigations of complaints and undertake prevention programs related to bullying and harassment in the workplace. You will engage effectively with complainants, HSRs, employers, union officials and other stakeholders. You will undertake site visits, provide advice, audit/monitor compliance, analyse documents, take statements and make presentations as required. You will develop and rollout proactive prevention strategies in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders. In addition Comcare provides services to the Australian Intelligence Organisations. It is envisaged that in this role you will also lead the introduction of new Work, Health and Safety strategies for those stakeholders. Overview of the group The Work Health and Safety Group in Comcare are responsible for the protection of the health, safety and welfare at work of federal workers. Prevention is the primary focus through targeted education and audit programs. The range of response and intervention following a safety incident includes investigation and justice outcomes through enforcement and voluntary compliance activities within a regulatory framework. Key relationships The Assistant Director, Bullying and Harassment reports to the Director Regional Service NSW/ACT. You will work with the Regional Director, other Assistant Directors and staff in Comcare to build and cultivate strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to provide high quality services to our customers. You will also provide advice to other Regions and branches in Comcare in issues related to Bullying and Harassment. Primary responsibilities Reporting to the Director, Regional Service NSW/ACT the successful candidate will: 1. Lead and manage a team of inspectors and a caseload of bullying and harassment complaints. 2. Enquire and investigate complaints of bullying and harassment in the workplace by engaging effectively with complainants and employers. 3. Work with other sections in Comcare and other regulators to develop presentations and prevention strategies. 2 4. Manage, coordinate and deliver preventive projects relating specifically bullying and harassment. 5. HS initiatives. Present at conferences, seminars and forums. 6. Develop cooperative compliance programs with employers, other regulators, HSRs and other stakeholders to reduce bullying and harassment in the workplace. 7. Lead the introduction of Work, Health and Safety prevention strategies for customers in the Australian Intelligence organisations. 8. Manage and coordinate the work of the team in line with required activities of the Work health and Safety Group to achieve organisational and operational goals. 9. Provide high level professional, technical and/or specialist advice. 10. Supervise guide and/or train staff as required. 11. Actively develop and maintain working relationships across Comcare, employers and other stakeholders that are effective, collaborative and strategic. 12.
