Comcare works in partnership with its customers to reduce the human and financial costs of workplace injuries and disease. Our vision is to make Commonwealth workplaces the safest in Australia. Comcare employs around 365 people based in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. It has an annual recurrent budget in excess of $250 million and manages outstanding workers’ compensation claims liabilities of approximately $1.6 billion. Comcare administers the Commonwealth’s workers’ compensation scheme under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) and also administers the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1991 (OHS(CE) Act). Job Profile – Manager, Secretariat The Manager, Secretariat co-ordinates the provision by Comcare of services to the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission and manages the Ministerial correspondence/briefs and representations functions for both Comcare and the Commission. The position is also responsible for the management of a range of other Comcare and Commission activities including the Commission’s safety awards program and the Commission’s annual report. The position requires a strong customer focus with well developed communication skills, timeliness, attention to detail and a high level of professionalism. Duties include the following: provide the Commission with Secretariat services, including liaison with Commission members, presentation of high quality papers and production of minutes. Coordinate other activities including the Commission’s annual report and its safety awards program manage the Ministerial correspondence/briefs and representations functions of both Comcare and the Commission.
