Exploring these themes will help you develop language skills, expand your vocabulary and allow you to learn how to use French in real-life situations.
Ongoing activities:
- Regular reading, at the beginning of EVERY period (class readers, with individualized activities)
- Communication activities, using new language and vocabulary
- New grammar and verb forms
- Watching and responding to videos and audio texts
- Preparing and presenting dialogues
- Research and presentations using information technology
Evaluation:
Your abilities in Oral Communication, Reading and Writing will be evaluated as follows:
Course Work: 70%

lined binder paper
A good English-French dictionary (85,000+ words) and Bescherelle for home use
Black or blue writing pens, red or other colour pen for correction
HB pencils and erasers

Expectations
- Attend class everyday: It is YOUR responsibility to seek work missed at the beginning of the period after absences. Past handouts will be placed in the “FSF1P Photocopies” folder by the door.
- Come to class prepared: bring homework, materials, paper, pen, texts.
- Participate actively and responsibly in all activities.
- Do and review homework everyday. Check for homework on the homework board.
- Courteous behaviour towards peers and teachers, as well as care for the physical classroom.
- Washroom privileges are limited. Permission can only be granted if you have your agenda for me to sign. You must also write your name on the sign-out sheet.
- NO: HATS, GUM, COATS, MAKE-UP, PORTABLE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS, or ABUSIVE LANGUAGE and
BEHAVIOUR of any kind.
- After the Introductory Unit, French will be the PRIMARY language of communication.
- Demonstrate academic honesty at all times. Plagiarism is cheating and will result in a mark of ZERO and a phone call home.
- Ask for help: I’m available before and after school or at lunch by appointment in the Language Office (121) or my room (119).
- MISSED TESTS/ASSIGNMENTS: You are expected to be present for all tests and presentations.
In case of JUSTIFIED absences, missed work will be completed upon your return.
UNJUSTIFIED ABSENCES OR UNREASONABLE LATE ASSIGNMENTS, MAY RESULT IN A ZERO.
