137330 Project Mgr Curriculum Mgmt System Page 1 Job Title: Project Mgr Curriculum Mgmt System Wage/Hour Status: Daily, Exempt Reports to: Associate Superintendent Pay Grade: D8 Date Revised: December 1, 2009 Dept/School: Curriculum & Instruction Primary Purpose The Project Manager of the Curriculum Management System (CMS) will be responsible for strategic planning, implementation and operational support. The Program Manager of the Curriculum Management System (CMS) must have deep technical knowledge and have experience in operations, development, and employing strategic solutions of a variety of IT related projects/programs. The Project Manager of the Curriculum Management System will also consult senior management on best practices as well as have a thorough understanding of the district’s Curriculum Management System needs. Qualifications Education/Certification Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field Master Degree in education, computer science, or related field Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of and ability to work with adult learners Knowledge of computer applications development and implementation Knowledge of administrative and instructional systems Ability to plan and control tactical and strategic projects Strong and effective project and people management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and organizational skills Ability to perform as a team player and generate team consensus Ability to interpret relevant policies and procedures Experience At least five years of management/leadership or comparable experience, preferably within a multiplatform computing environment. Texas school district experience preferred. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Direct and develop staff in the successful performance of their tasks and responsibilities. Direct and oversee the development and implementation of the Curriculum Management System. Ensure the change management process is utilized and followed by assigned staff to implement system enhancements, software upgrades, and the installation of new products related to the Curriculum Management System. Ensure solution delivery requirements are met and data integrity is maintained. Ensure development practices, policies, and procedures are in line with strategic growth and future technology initiatives related to the Curriculum Management System. Monitor system reliability/performance measures and work with other TIS organizations to determine improvements. Assist other district units with the research and evaluation of educational technology, coordinating where appropriate with research, evaluation, planning, and assessment, and appropriate associate superintendents. 137330 Project Mgr Curriculum Mgmt System Page 2 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. Create a training plan differentiated between teachers, administrators, and support staff; encompass building/reviewing/sharing lesson plans, TEKS alignment, PDAS/assessment interfaces and TAK/benchmark data disaggregation. Create interface development plan to include data from/to PDAS, student assessment, student information system, and TEKS requirements. Participate in, and give technical advice to committees that supply input to the ongoing vision and definition of the Curriculum Management System. Keep informed of the latest research, trends, and developments in program development and support. Participate in professional growth activities by attending trade shows and technology conferences. Collaborate with Technology Systems to ensure a seamless alignment to the technological infrastructure to support the appropriate and effective use of the Curriculum Management System. Identify CMS infrastructure requirements including server capacities, workstation specifications, and network throughout estimates. Identify implementation costs and budget assignments to meet them. Develop process and outcome evaluation strategies that measure CMS effectiveness, including data systems, PDAS system, and curriculum system. Perform other assigned duties as may be required by the Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Relationships Requires on-going interaction with the Curriculum and Instruction staff. Maintain routine contacts throughout Curriculum and Instruction to ensure service levels are met/exceeded. Maintain contact with EPISD Division personnel as required to monitor service levels. Must also develop relationships with vendors and suppliers outside of EPISD who provide state-of-the-art IT solutions.
