APUSH - 10th Summer Requirements/Checklist 1.) Go ahead and join my Google Classroom for APUSH10. a.) Join code: hqggxxw 2.) Try and buy the following books ASAP. I would highly recommend buying them used on Amazon (should only cost a couple of $) or trying to find a junior willing to sell you theirs. If you’re having issues, please let me know. a.) America: A Narrative History (Volume 1, 8th Edition) by George Tindall & David Shi (I choose the 8th edition b/c it will be the best combo of recent/cheap) b.) United States History: Preparing for the AP Exam (Known as “AMSCO Book”) by John Newman & John Schmalbach. It is very important that you get the 2015 edition of the book because it matches the new exam. You might be able to get a used copy from juniors or online, but make sure it is the right edition. You can otherwise order a new copy from the following website: http://www.amscopub.com/us-history-preparing-for-ap-exam 3.) There will be summer readings/requirements. The assignments will be via Google Classroom and all grades will count towards your 1st 9 weeks grade. a.) Every week I will be posting an assignment. This will more than likely be a reading, but could be something else such as a documentary, place to visit, etc. b.) You are required to do at least 4 of the assignments posted. If you do more than the required assignments, this will be considered for an additional assignment (not to be confused with extra credit, but it still helps your grade). c.) There will be different requirements to the assignment. You will more than likely be given a reading quiz (online). You might have to answer a open response question and be required to respond to two other students responses. (This is how college online courses are handled). d.) A rubric will be made available to show how I will grade the assignments. Quizzes will be considered a “bronze” category and the reflections/posts will be considered a “silver” category in the new grading system.
