CREATING AN ADVERTISEMENT
1. Design an advertisement for a make-believe product based on a Greek mythological
figure. Your product must have some reference or association to the mythological figure
you chose. (See example below).
2. Your advertisement should contain the following: Product name, visual image, and
slogan. Additional creative content is encouraged.
3. Write a paragraph explaining the background of your mythological figure and your
product’s connection to the figure. How do your image and slogan relate to it? You should
also explain what people should think when they see your product - why should they buy
it?
4. Your ad can be computer-made or hand-drawn but your paragraph must be typed.
DEMETER is the goddess of grains, crops and
agriculture. Without her aid, farmers believed they could
not grow healthy crops.
We have chosen Demeter’s symbol, the sheaf of wheat,
to promote an organic food company.
We are using Demeter's association with crops and the
earth to advertise the natural goodness of the foods our
company sells.
