Youth Square “A Journey of Printmaking”
Discovering Unlimited Possibilities from Prints
[Hong Kong, 14 June 2013] Unlike other visual arts, printmaking is a means of producing
multiple images with a plate to create art pieces. These prints are easy to transport and exhibit in
nature, which travel across times and territories easily and are able to reach wider audience.
Printmaking plays an important role in spreading knowledge and culture since its invention.
Youth Square organizes a series of activities under the theme of “A Journey of Printmaking”
from July to November 2013 to support art creation and to promote the art of printmaking,
encouraging the youth to widen their horizon and to develop interest through art prints. Having this
opportunity to exchange and to create works of art, the young artists can discover unlimited
possibilities from printmaking and show off their talents. “Print with Fun” is the first activity in this
series which held on 7 July from 2pm to 5pm at Dance Studio, 6th Floor, Youth Square. A
professional instructor will introduce four types of printmaking techniques, including Relief Print,
Intaglio, Planography and Screen Printing. Participants can experience the fun of printmaking
through making their own prints.
Following the above event, “A Journey of Printmaking Workshop” covering thorough
printmaking techniques, creative concept to work completion will be organized by Youth Square in
four days on 18, 22 to 24 July respectively. Participants can create their own prints which may be
selected to exhibit in “A Journey of Printmaking Exhibition” during the late-October and
mid-November. The theme of this exhibition is “Ignite the fire, discover unlimited possibilities”, those
interested can create their works of art with this theme and submit to Youth Square between 20 July
and 20 September. Outstanding submissions will be exhibited in the exhibition after the selection
process. Admission of the above activities are free, all students and youth are welcome. Application
