Hello parents, guardians, and students. It is a new school year once again, and I am really excited to get started up back in the old art room.
This year I am introducing some new class choices to include Printmaking
I, and Lost Wax Casting! I am also looking forward to the classics offered every year such as Pottery I and II, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Design.
In the more hands on classes like pottery, sculpture, and lost wax casting, students will be producing tangible things that, I hope, they can take home with pride. In the two dimensional classes students will draw inspiration from things they come in contact with everyday that they don’t think twice about. And in
Graphic Design, they will be working in the computer lab to create pieces magazine editors would pine for.
Some of the classes offered do require some materials to be brought into class from the students. If your student is in printmaking, a couple plain tee shirts should be brought in so that the students can make their own designed shirts. Also it would not be a bad idea to have an apron or a shirt that could be soiled. I hope that you all feel as motivated as I am to start this august. Stay Inspired!
This summer was very productive for me! I spent a lot of time in my ceramic studio producing pieces for the local art even in the central park. I had a pleasantly unexpected turn out in sales. Also as most of you know, I am serving the
Army National Guard, and I do an annual training event. This year we went to Camp Ripley, Minnesota. It was a hot one too! I must say, being in the wilderness really connected me with nature, and the experience inspired a few of my new projects. I am ready to start working as hard as my students this fall. Let’s pull together and make this a very productive school year.
