CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET USING A DIAL UP CONNECTION-MSN
Contact your Internet Service Provider for helping setting up your computer to connect to the Internet.
The Help Desk does not provide that support. When you call your Internet Service Provider, ask to
speak with someone who knows Macintosh computers. INSTEAD OF INSTALLING INTERNET
SOFTWARE ON THE STUDENT IBOOKS, FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS TO CONNECT TO YOUR
ISP.
If you need help with connecting to MSN on your iBook, you may call the following number
intended for Macintosh Computer Users:
1-888-MSN-4MAC
To complete these directions, you will need to know:
•
Your user name
•
Your password
•
The phone number your computer dials to connect to the network (You can get this from
your ISP
•
The address of your service provider (earthlink.net, erols.com, etc.)
Directions for Dialup Users
1. Plug in the phone cable to your iBook.

automatically select the modem settings. If you plug in an Ethernet cable, it will automatically
select settings for DSL or cable modem. If you have nothing plugged in and a wireless network is
available, it will automatically pick up the wireless network signal.
