Español AP In AP Spanish the focus will be on communication and preparing for the AP exam. We will also review grammar and learn some new grammar topics. Students will communicate with the teacher, and each other, in Spanish. Below you will find some suggested assignments and resources in order to help students feel more prepared as they make the transition to AP Spanish. Recommended Assignments In order to prepare for the course please try to listen and read in Spanish as much as possible. As you are listening and reading, please keep a list of new words that you hear and look up their definitions on www.wordreference.com A large component of the AP course is learning about culture and making comparison and connections. You can also practice with new vocabulary on Quizlet – www.quizlet.com In the search section you can enter a specific topic such as “Spanish prepositions” to practice and choose from several different lists. Please work on the “modismos.” Please search AP Spanish modismos and there will be many different lists provided. Search for lists or practice the lists created during this year’s AP class by going to quizlet, searching: sgslivo. Click on the sgslivo user icon and there will be several lists. Some lists require a password which is: vocabulario It is always helpful to review vocabulary. Please choose a few topics and work through the notes and then complete the practice activities and check your work with the answer key. First you will hear someone respond to a question and then use this as a model to create your own response. Please use the intermediate, advanced, or superior levels. They are sorted by topics and will provide additional vocabulary. http://www.colby.edu/~bknelson/SLC/index.php - Excellent grammar practice. http://www.elpais.com/global/ - One of the notable newspapers from Madrid. http://www.univision.com/portal.jhtml - Website for one of the main Spanish television channels in the US. Click on the video link in order to watch video of news programs. This is an excellent way to practice listening!
