Español AP
In AP Spanish the focus will be on communication and preparing for the AP exam. We will also review grammar and
learn some new grammar topics. Students will communicate with the teacher, and each other, in Spanish. Below you will
find some suggested assignments and resources in order to help students feel more prepared as they make the transition to
AP Spanish.
Recommended Assignments
 In order to prepare for the course please try to listen and read in Spanish as much as possible. As you are listening
and reading, please keep a list of new words that you hear and look up their definitions on
www.wordreference.com
 A large component of the AP course is learning about culture and making comparison and connections. Please
keep up to date on current events by referring to news sources such as: CNN en español:
http://cnnespanol.cnn.com/ and El Nuevo Herald: http://www.elnuevoherald.com/
 The Zachary Jones website also provided lots of activities related to culture, music, and art. http://zacharyjones.com/zambombazo/
 Don’t forget the Photo Vocab word of the day! http://zachary-jones.com/photovocab/
 It is also suggested that you review verb conjugations. Please use www.conjuguemos.com in order to practice all
indicative tenses (present, preterit, imperfect, future, conditional, perfect tenses, and commands) as well as the
present and imperfect subjunctive. If you do not have a log-in or do not remember your log-in, please create a
new one. Our school code is 9127 and when it asks you to sign up for a teacher please click on Mrs. Slivosky.
Feel free to send me your grades through out the summer. This will not count as a grade, but it will allow me to
see your progress.
 You can also practice with new vocabulary on Quizlet – www.quizlet.com In the search section you can enter a
specific topic such as “Spanish prepositions” to practice and choose from several different lists. Please work on
the “modismos.” Please search AP Spanish modismos and there will be many different lists provided.
Search for lists or practice the lists created during this year’s AP class by going to quizlet, searching: sgslivo.
Click on the sgslivo user icon and there will be several lists. Some lists require a password which is:
vocabulario

It is always helpful to review vocabulary. I highly recommend www.quizlet.com for vocabulary review.
http://users.ipfw.edu/jehle/s210.htm - This site reviews several key topics related to Spanish and grammar. Please
choose a few topics and work through the notes and then complete the practice activities and check your work
with the answer key.
