Dear Wesley Foundation Board Member,
The Wesley Foundation Board met yesterday with Pastor Janet G. McKeithen who was suggested by Rev. Huntington
to serve as Wesley Director for this year. I am pleased to report [ if you were unable to attend ] that the Board
unanimously agreed to recommend this appointment to Rev. Huntington effective August 1, 2003. I spoke with Rev.
Huntington shortly after the meeting and advised here of our recommendation and she concurred.
In addition to this item the Rev. Ron Griffen of the SLO UMC attended the meeting and outlined his recommendation
for the local churches to take a much more active role in the Wesley Program. Both he and Pastor Janet will be meeting
next week to begin planning for the Fall outreach at both Cal Poly and Cuesta in addition to the Wesley program at the
SLO UMC. I will meet with her sometime during the week of August 12 and show her around Cal Poly. I will e-mail
you the date and time s if you would like to join us for lunch that day please let me know.

Our next meeting to review and help plan the Wesley Program will be Saturday September 14 at 8:30 – 2 pm in the
Wesley Building. Please mark your calendar now. The road ahead for Wesley is uncharted and will be challenging.
But I believe you will find this journey rewarding as we try to provide a program that meets our mission and goals for
the Wesley Fellowship for our college age young men and women.
Mission: To offer an active Christian ministry to, for and with college students, faculty,
staff and the central coast community.
Our Goals: To provide a supportive community on our journey to discipleship, based on
respect, communications and inclusion, interaction, counseling and caring.
