Assignment 9/10
System Proposal
(Must be completed individually)
(Due: June 26, 2003)
In this assignment you are asked to combine all the components that we have created for the Association for the
Preservation of Historical Automobiles information system. This is an individual assignment, not a group
assignment. Specifically, your system proposal for APHA should include:
1. Cover page, with project title, course name and number and section, and your name.
2. Table of contents, with page numbers. You may wish to use tabs for the different sections.
3. Description of the project (rewrite the description given on the original project assignment as though you
were the systems analyst in charge of this project).
4. Original System Request.
5. Feasibility Analysis (Should be updated, now that more information is available)
6. Gantt Chart (modified, to reflect what has been completed, and what still needs to be done).
7. A context diagram of the to-be system (Note: This is different from assignment 4, where we described the
as-is system).
8. A use-case diagram with the actors Member and Meet Coordinator.
9. A sequence diagram for the get information on judges use case.
10. A class diagram, showing all relations, attributes, and methods for the relevant entity classes, including
appropriate descriptions.
11. A state chart diagram for an object in the class Judge, including appropriate descriptions.
12. A short section in which you make recommendations as to how the to-be system should be developed to
meet the identified requirements.
Include appropriate headings for each of the items above. Don’t use your originally graded work, but rather
improve on what you had done earlier, make new printouts, and consolidate all your UML diagrams into one
Rational Rose Project. Even if you got 100% on an assignment, it may still need improvement!
All of the above should be in hard copy, placed into a thin and flat binder (not a loose folder; it must be neat
looking). It should read like a cohesive, professional report, that you, as the project leader are submitting to the
APHA management for review. Also place into the binder your diskette (tape an envelope on the inside cover if
the binder does not have a compartment) that contains a folder with the (single) Rational Rose with diagrams
for items 8 through 11 above. The diskette should also contain a Microsoft Project file with your Gantt chart
and a spreadsheet file with your cost/benefit analysis. Neatness, correct grammar, spelling, and overall
appearance also count towards your grade on this assignment.
