The first meeting of ACHE’s 2009–2010 Nominating Committee will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, during the Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago. The committee will be in open session at 2:45 p.m. During the meeting an orientation session will be conducted for potential candidates, providing the opportunity to ask questions about the nominating process. Immediately following the orientation, an open forum will be provided for ACHE affiliates to present and discuss their views of ACHE leadership needs. Following the July 15 submission deadline, the committee will meet to determine which candidates for Chairman-Elect and Governor will be interviewed in person on Oct. 29, 2009. All candidates will be notified in writing of the committee’s decision by Sept. 30, 2009. Survey Compares the Career Attainments of Healthcare Executives by Race/Ethnicity This month, four professional societies of healthcare executives and the Institute for Diversity in Health Management (IFD) are presenting the findings of their collaborative study on the career attainments of healthcare executives. In 2008, under the leadership of the American College of Healthcare Executives, members of ACHE, the Asian Health Care Leaders Association (AHCLA), National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) and the National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives (NFLHE), were sent a questionnaire that asked them about their preparations, achievements and attitudes relative to their careers in healthcare management. Results will be presented at the first “Forum on Advances in Health Management Research,” Seminar 53, at the Congress on Healthcare Leadership, on Tuesday, March 24, and in a report scheduled to be released on ache.org in early March 2009.
