DIRECTIONS: IMPLICIT ASSOCIATIONS TESTS WEBQUEST – Lower Library Computer Lab
Assignment
1. Go to Harvard University’s Implicit Associations Test website at
https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/demo/ . Click on “Go to the Demonstration Tests”.
2. You will have the choice of 14 different IAT (tests). Select any 3 or 4. Read the preliminary
information, if you want to read the general information, do so. To proceed, click” I wish to
proceed”.
3. Fill out the information requested. Then, from the list of IAT tests, select 3-4 tests. Click on
the first on you wish to take. It should take approximately 10 minutes for each. You will be
asked a series of questions comparing various things. You will respond by pressing either the
“e” or “I” keys of the keyboard. Follow the specific directions of each IAT you select. Answer
each comparison as quickly as possible.
4. On completion of the test, RECORD your results either by copying the information in your
notebook, or by copy and pasting it into a word document and printing it. This is for your
personal knowledge and reference; it will not be handed in.
5. According to the test results. Answer the following questions as you go along, or once you
have completed 3 or 4 IATs, or as insights occur.




How did your results compare to your expectations?
Do you agree with the results?
Are you surprised by the results?
What did you learn about yourself, if anything?
6. At the bottom of the screen will be link to select additional IATs. Repeat the procedure and
record your results until you have completed 3 of 4 tests. They generally take about 10
minutes each.
