Thought Assignment #4 – Implicit Associations

The Implicit Association Test (IAT) was designed to tap our unconscious prejudices.
Research has shown that many people who would not consider themselves to have
positive or negative associations with people in certain groups show some implicit or
“hidden” prejudices on this task. For this assignment, select two of the Implicit
Association Tests (there are many choices – e.g., race, gender, age, religion,
disability, presidents) and take them, then answer the questions below. THIS
ASSIGNMENT SHOULD BE TYPED!

1. What the results of the tests you took?
2. Were you surprised by the results? Why or why not?
3. How did your results compare to the results of other web respondents who took
the test (presented at the end of the task)?
4. What implications might there be for these results, either for you personally or for
people, society, or psychology in general?
