PASTOR’S PAGE FOR JULY 2012 JULY is the heart of summer. Let’s see what is going on in the churches: Sunday, July 1, is the Sunday before INDEPENDENCE DAY. We will have patriotic music at both churches. Monday, July 2, Christ Church Consistory will meet at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, is the official celebration of INDEPENDENCE DAY. Have a good one! Thursday, July 5, Salem Church Consistory will meet at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, we are celebrating HOLY COMMUNION at both churches. Please prepare yourselves to receive the Holy Sacrament. Monday, July 9, is the quarterly Joint Consistory Meeting, Christ Church, 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 9 thru Friday, July 13, there will be a Child Evangelism Camp in Valley View. It begins at 9:30 a.m. and goes until 3:00 p.m. in the Valley View Park. Please pre-register if possible. The Day Camp sometimes fills up. Wednesday, July 11, VBS Planning Meeting, Christ Church, 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, Pastor Mark is preaching at the Friendly Home, 2:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome to join him to put on the service. Music is especially appreciated. This Sunday is the deadline for the August LIFELINE. Please have all your information to Rose Novinger by this date. That evening, at 6:00 p.m., the 1 Pitman Community Service Planning Meeting will take place at the grove. Representatives from both of our churches should plan to be there. Monday, July 16, through Friday, July 20, there will be a CEF Five Day Club event that will take place at the home of Brandon & Mallory Wiest, 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 through Saturday, July 21, there will be the KLINGERSTOWN FIREMAN’S CARNIVAL. July 17 is parade night. Pastor Mark will be directing traffic as usual. Please come out and support the fire company! Sunday, July 22, is the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost. Sunday, July 22 thru Thursday, July 26, there will be a joint Lutheran/Reformed Vacation Bible School at Christ Church. The theme is: SONLIGHT EXPRESS: JESUS AND ME by Bogard Press. The theme involves trains. We begin at 6:15 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. each night. Registration is on Sunday, at Christ Church, starting at 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration forms are available at Christ Church. Please pre-register if you can. There will be an adult class taught by the pastors as usual. The theme will be the same as the children’s, but with a more mature approach. Please come yourself and bring your children and/or grandchildren. Everyone, please bring a T-shirt so that the VBS staff can place an iron on logo for you and your children. The offering will be both food and money. The money will be split between the families of Kayla Heim and Christy Boyer. The food will all go to the Boyer family. Friday, July 27 thru Sunday, July 29, the PITMAN FIRE PICNIC will take place. There will be a parade on Saturday, July 28, at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, there will be the Pitman Community Service. There will be no services at either of our churches so that we can support this event. Sunday School is at 9:00 a.m. with church at 10:15 a.m. Please help out at this event any way that you can. We wish to express our congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple! 2 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Salem Church had a very successful VBS from June 10 through 14!
