**NOTE** The use of electronic translators, online translators like Google translate, or any other
internet service that provides translation of sentences or paragraphs is prohibited. As noted in the
student handbook, using translators is cheating and will result in a zero for that assignment and carry
the same consequences as cheating on anything else. Students may use an online dictionary to look up
an individual word; they may not look up a sentence, a string of words, or conjugated verbs. Please use
your notes, textbook, dictionary, or teacher as your resources for English-Spanish help.
Participation
Oral communication is an essential part of any language. The best way to become proficient in a foreign
language is to listen intently and to speak it as much as possible so try your hardest hablar español en clase to your peers, to yourself, whenever and wherever, even out of class. Your homework, classwork and quiz
grades will directly reflect your participation in and out of class.
Homework & Classwork
Homework & classwork will generally count for two to five points each, though some assignments may be
worth more. Incomplete homework or classwork will be worth partial credit.
 HW assignments and classwork will be posted in class and on Skyward
 Expect to have HW every night
 It is strongly recommended that you exchange phone #’s with at least one other student in your class
so that you may contact each other in case of questions
Late homework will not be accepted, except for those students absent on either the day it was assigned or the
day it was due. If students are present in class the day HW is assigned they are expected to have it completed
the day of their return.
Assessments
Quizzes, tests and other assessments may include listening comprehension, speaking, sentence completion,
sentence construction, translation, short answer, essay, question-answer, matching and true/false. You will
be tested on vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking. All assessments are
cumulative. Expect at least 1 quiz or graded assessment each week.
Attendance / missed assignments
If you are absent it is your responsibility to complete all missed work; students are expected to complete all
assignments listed in Skyward. Any make-up work due to absence will not be accepted after one week without
penalty.
If you are absent on the day of an assessment or the day before, you will complete it upon your return unless
you have made prior arrangements with the teacher. This includes quizzes, tests, presentations, etc.
Final Exam
 Students will take a final cumulative exam worth 20% of the final grade. The exam will include
information from the entire year
 The final exam consists of a listening portion, oral interview, and a written exam.
 An overall final grade of 74% or higher is needed to move on to level 4 Spanish.
