SPANISH 3 HONORS COURSE INFORMATION
Señora Lisa Ferguson
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de honor de Español 3!
COURSE DESCRIPTION: In Spanish 3 Honors, you will focus on increasing your knowledge
of Spanish grammar, your aural comprehension skills, and your speaking abilities. In addition,
you will be completing journal entries and other writing assignments in order to practice your
increased vocabulary and grammar knowledge. You will improve your reading comprehension
through various types of selections including authentic materials, such as newspapers and
magazine articles. The class will present you opportunities for a deeper exploration of Hispanic
culture, art, and history.
TEXTBOOK: You will be using the Realidades level 3 textbook during this course. You may
access this book online.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS: In order to complete this course, you should: come to class with
your homework completed; maintain a passing grade on tests, quizzes, and projects; participate
daily in classroom activities using the Spanish language; bring your Spanish textbook and
workbook to class daily; purchase a 3-ring binder in which to place daily class notes, handouts,
worksheets, or homework assignments; study vocabulary on a regular basis at home; bring a thin
folder with loose-leaf paper for journal writing (this will remain in the classroom); and exhibit
appropriate classroom behavior.
HOMEWORK/PRACTICE: To improve your skills in a foreign language, you should study
regularly (nightly is best). If you do not have a specific written assignment, you should review
your notes and study the current vocabulary. Written assignments should be turned in on the day
that they are due. No credit will be given for late assignments.
GRADING: In accordance with ORHS policy, the following scale for honors classes will be
used: A = 90-100; B = 82-89; C = 72-81; D = 67-71; F = 0-67. Grades are calculated with a total
point system. Homework and class assignments are usually counted for a grade, but not always.
For the final grade calculation, each 9 weeks grading period counts 22%, and the final exam
grade counts 12%. There is no extra credit. Cheating on any assignment, quiz, or test will be
awarded a zero.
MAKE-UP POLICY: After an absence, it is your responsibility to get the class notes from a
classmate and any handouts/worksheets from the teacher. You must remember to schedule makeup tests or quizzes within three days. If you have computer access at home, you can check for
assignments online.
EXTRA HELP: You may come for extra help before or after school by appointment.
CONFERENCES: If you have any concerns, please contact me by phone at the school at 4259601. I will return the call as soon as possible. You may also e-mail me at lferguson@ortn.edu.
