ROLE PROFILE
TITLE: Business Analyst
TEAM/PROGRAMME: IT
LOCATION: London
GRADE: TBC
CONTRACT LENGTH: 1 year
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 1: the post holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal
data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore a police check will not be
mandatory for this post unless the content of the post changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding
level should be reviewed.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children is launching a project to develop an information system solution that will satisfy
global, standardised, best-practice project management requirements and provide support for MEAL
(Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) processes and other information needs. This role
will work within a small dedicated project team to support the delivery of this project by gathering and
defining business requirements. This role will be responsible for managing a diverse set of stakeholders,
solving collaboration/knowledge management issues.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Knowledge Management Systems Analyst
Staff reporting to this post: No direct reports
Role Dimensions:
Over 60 countries with a staff complement in excess of 17,000. This project has many stakeholders
across the program operations and quality teams in many of the geographic locations in which we
work. We are a highly matrixed organisation with a complex accountability structure.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Own requirements documentation for the development of global project management,
monitoring and reporting software platform
Engage/partner with stakeholders across the business to conduct requirements analysis and
document the business needs
Work with Solution Developers to ensure the system solution can be feasibly implemented and
satisfies business/user requirements
Act as the subject matter expert with regards to business process for the project management
of programme delivery
Work within a small project delivery team to deliver incremental versions of the solution to
users following the Agile methodology
Identify any potential conflicting business requirements or definition gaps and escalate to
project manager if the situation requires
Support the prioritisation of design requirements with the development team with an informed
understanding of the impact to the organisation
Maintain accurate, version controlled, documentation over the project lifecycle, which is readily
available to key stakeholders, and ensure the knowledge is disseminated

QUALIFICATIONS
 Computing degree - BSc, BA or equivalent experience;
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential
 Proven business requirements gathering and process/workflow analysis skills
 Ability to understand and manage stakeholder requirements/drivers and project expectations
 Good communication skills (written & oral English), including the ability to communicate and
present both at a technical and non-technical level
 Demonstrable ability to write high quality requirements / user stories when required
 Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiation/mediate; to facilitate the
resolution of conflicting business requirements
 Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
 Experience with UX/UI design including wireframe and rapid prototype development
 Experience of working within an agile project delivery environment, in particular Scrum
 Proven experience in facilitating productive workshops, preferably in multi-cultural contexts
 Excellent customer service orientation and follow-up skills
 Ability to manage and prioritise the workload across a number of different projects
 Demonstrates a strong work ethic and able to take the initiative and ownership to deliver value
to the business
 Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally
Desirable:
 Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
 Experience with/understanding of the Monitoring and Evaluation of international development
projects
 Experience in working with offshore project team members
