SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL ROLE PROFILE TITLE: Internal Communications Manager TEAM/PROGRAMME: LOCATION: Internal Communications Team London GRADE: CONTRACT LENGTH: TBC Permanent CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 2: either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a police check will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries). ROLE PURPOSE: The Internal Communications Manager is a critical role with one clear aim – to drive engagement amongst our 24,000 staff members in 120 countries through effective communications. This role within the Internal Communications team will deliver internal communication projects and produce materials to support the delivery of Save the Children International’s global internal communications plan. The role holder will be expected to work with a wide range of stakeholders across varying levels of seniority around the world, and will business partner with various departments and field offices to support internal communications objectives. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Business partner with various departments and field offices to develop communications plans that support operational objectives. Deliver strategic internal communication projects based on organisational priorities. Oversee delivery of high quality internal communication content. Support the weekly staff bulletin including writing and editing stories, as well as gathering stories from across the global organisation. Lead on planning and overseeing calendar of key moments throughout the year. Produce global communications materials including videos; posters, PowerPoints, talking points, reports, etc. to support communications objectives. Measure, analyse and report on the effectiveness of communication activities in meeting internal communication objectives. Manage and deliver organisational change communication projects and provide communications advice for key reactive/crisis projects. Provide communications support and advice out of hours as and when required. Raise awareness throughout organisation of internal communication and tools and services. Manage the internal communications global email inbox on a rotating basis with the team; providing advice and support to staff. To perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time and deputise for Director of team and provide cover for other team members. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Essential Proven experience in developing and implementing high impact internal communication plans, ideally in a complex global organisation. Excellent writer and editor, skilled at distilling large amounts of information for diverse audiences Attention to detail and the ability to follow tasks and ideas through to completion. Excellent project manager, with an ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities. Creative communicator, able to develop inspiring and engaging communication products. Highly developed interpersonal skills, including influencing and negotiation. Highly developed cultural awareness and able to work well in a diverse, international environment. A proven ability to develop and manage digital content. Able to build strong global networks. Ability to juggle operational delivery with strategic thinking.
