Lesson Plan 5.1 (9/19/06) Subject: Exploratory Spanish Grade Level: 7th Topic: tener Teacher: Virginia Dyson Time Allotment: 50 min. Teaching date: 2of 6 I. Instructional Goals The learner will learn the basic conjugations of “tener” through a short Spanish play. II. Instructional Objectives a.) The learner will identify the basic vocabulary words dealing with the body. b.) The learner will list the basic conjugation of “tener”. c.) The learner will compare the conjugation of “tener” and “ser”. III. Standards ALCOS 1.2: Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics. ALCOS 4.1: Students demonstrate understanding of the nature of language through comparisons of the language studied and their own. IV. Time Teaching/Learning Procedures Activity 5 min A. Motivation/Introduction 1. Students will participate in a TPR activity with the ser conjugations for the pronouns yo, tú, él, ella, nosotros, and ellos. 40min B. Teaching/Learning Activities 1.) Students will watch a TPR version of the play that they are going to act out in groups. Students will then identify new vocabulary used in this play. 2.) Students will then try to chart the verb tener in the same fashion that they charted “ser”. 3.) Students will then complete the play vocabulary sheet in groups. 5 min C. Closure Summarize 1.) Students will pick groups to perform the play. Further instructions on what is expected will be given at this time. V. Resources Spanish is Fun VI. Materials 1 whiteboard, 1 projector, 2 play/body worksheets for 40 students. VII. Accommodations: No accommodations are made. VIII Assignment Students will write five sentences describing things that they have. Students will begin to memorize their part for the play. IX. Assessment Comprehension will be checked with periodic questioning.
