General Description (Purpose and Function):
The Sr. Decision Support Analyst will assume a role in the re-engineering efforts of the UHealth System regarding the
measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the healthcare
service industry and internal business objectives. The incumbent on this position will be responsible for developing
technology plans and strategies related to the business performance measurement functions of the Decision Support
Group. He/she will assist in the analysis and implementation of strategic planning and development programs
currently existing or as may be created for the UHealth System; this includes conducting problem analysis and
recommending solutions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):
 Performs measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the
healthcare service industry and internal business objectives
 Presents performance indicator reports and benchmark narratives to clinical departments
 Maintains initial data, solves data integrity issues as they arise, and oversees the addition of new data to
analytics and reporting systems
 Create customized reports using data requested by senior management and conducts ad hoc analyses where
needed
 Develops and manages analyses of physicians’ compensation plans:
o Gathering of Compensation Data
o Development and maintenance of benchmark reports
o Development and maintenance of monthly performance reports
 Engages department leaders in the analysis of physician productivity:
o Monitoring FPSC reports and determining data submission criteria
o Developing Reporting needs around Physician Productivity
o Matching Productivity with Clinical Revenue and Compensation Expense
 Advises senior management based on FPSC productivity data
 Analyzes clinical revenue by:
o Tracking clinical revenue trends
o Tracking coding, collection rates, denial rates, etc., through FPSC and Epic
o Communicating reports/findings to clinical departments and senior management
 Performs due diligence of incentive plan submissions
 Develops technology plans and strategies related to the business performance measurement functions of the
UMMG Decision Support group
 Conducts the design, construction, upgrading and maintenance of business systems used by the UHealth
decision support team for the presentation of business metrics including needs analyses, creating programming
specifications, programming or communicating with other system programmers and testing system changes

Cross-trains on all functions related to the development, update and maintenance of the decision support
databases. This includes ongoing collaboration with the group’s Database Technology Manager in all matters
related to the documentation of database functions.
Evaluates alternative software purchases and act as a liaison with vendors of specialized business intelligence or
database products, geographic information systems and data mining software
Assists in the analysis and implementation of strategic planning and development programs currently existing or
as may be created for the UHealth System. Conducts problem analysis and recommends solutions
Indentifies, coordinates, collects and ensures the availability of data related to health care institutions and health
care utilization within the Health System markets. This will include data that are related to patient demographics,
utilization, physician and hospital service and locations as well as general healthcare news and data accessible
to the public or available by contract, for the benefit of the health system
Assists in the preparation and distribution of regular reports from internal and external data sources used for
planning by senior leadership and other personal and administrative staff at the Miller School of Medicine
Assists the Director of Strategic Operations in such areas as he may deem appropriate in furtherance of the
goals and program of the health system
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 Knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, performance analysis, and development of business
performance dashboards, scorecards and KPI's
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate well with others
 Ability to implement quality management concepts into practice.
 Proficiency in MS office and relational databases
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or related field
Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
 Three years of work related experience in data manipulation and analysis. Experience with clinical revenue and
physician productivity data analysis is preferred
