Dean’s Message
Welcome to the Faculty of Business at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The Faculty is among a handful of business schools in the world with Triple Accreditation from AACSB (The
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System) and
AMBA (Association of MBAs).
Our community is dedicated to the pursuit of IDEAS (Innovation-driven Education and
Scholarship) with a 3D focus on Discovery, Design and Delivery. We realise knowledge and technology
transfer through high-quality educational programmes, as well as partnership and close links with industry
and the professional community.
The Faculty offers a comprehensive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, many of
which are recognised by professional bodies in the fields of accounting, finance, logistics, management,
marketing and transport. Apart from the BBA, MBA, EMBA, DBA and specialised master’s degrees, there
are also research programmes leading to the MPhil and PhD awards.
To maintain the currency of our academic programmes and specialist consultancy, faculty members
undertake application-oriented research, both within and across their disciplines, facilitated by the Faculty’s
centres for research in competition law, corporate governance, logistics, maritime studies and marketing. Our
research has been ranked 68th in the world (The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings based
on Research Contributions 2009-2013).
We look forward to welcoming you to our community of 200 academics from around the world, 5,200
students and 36,000 alumni.

Programme Director’s Message
Welcome to the PolyU MBA, a programme which has been developing General Managers in Hong Kong
since 1990 and in Mainland China since 2002.
The Faculty of Business at PolyU has made remarkable progress in the last few years. Our research, which is
the primary indicator of a business school’s reputation, is now rated No. 68 in the world. At the same time
MBA brochure 2014-15 20pp version
we have pursued international recognition for the quality of our programmes, the MBA being accredited by
the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the whole Faculty being accredited by EQUIS, the EFMD Quality
Improvement System and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
Over the past few years we have been working to further improve the PolyU MBA, benchmarking its
structure, content and teaching approaches against the best programmes in the world. The MBA now has a
smaller intake of students, an increased number of credits, and new subjects in Operations Management,
Global Economic Environment, Leadership in the Asian Context, Business Research Methods and an
Investigative Report.
In the Faculty of Business at PolyU we pride ourselves in IDEAS (Innovation-driven Education and
Scholarship) with a 3D focus on Discovery, Design and Delivery. Our MBA students have an average of
more than 10 years rich working experience in the real world which they bring to the classroom to share
with their classmates and professors. Through world class academic work we qualify them for positions in
general management. It is not easy, but if you can accept the challenge, we know that it will stand you in
good stead for many years to come. Join us!!
