Research & Teaching Interests
I take a pragmatic approach to studying management because my background is management
consulting. In the real world, there is no such thing as a purely strategic problem or a purely
organizational problem. One has to know marketing, finance, HRM, OB, operations and so on, to
understand management issues and to manage a company as a general manager. Therefore,
balanced understanding and integration of various aspects of a corporation will be critical. My
courses are for MBA candidates who are interested in pragmatic aspects of Strategy and General
Management. The case method is often used in my courses. WBS is a school with both
Japanese-speaking students and English-speaking students. In one of my courses, discussion is
interpreted into both languages so that English-speaking students can discuss with Japanese
students without any difficulty. Making friends across cultures while can broaden your
international experience.
