To Read or Not to Read
How to Ensure Students are Reading Passages and Not Having
Read the Passage to Your Students
There are many different types of activities in
to help improve
your students’ comprehension and fluency. Many activities designed to help
students with comprehension skills and other language functions allow students
to have a passage read aloud. If you wish for your students to read more
passages without any audio support, look for the following icons:

When this icon appears in the
bottom right-hand corner,
students are having the story
read aloud. You can see the text
highlighted in purple as the story
or passage is read to your
student.
When this icon appears, your
student must read the passage to
him or herself. The text is not
highlighted because it is not
being read aloud.
