To Read or Not to Read How to Ensure Students are Reading Passages and Not Having Read the Passage to Your Students There are many different types of activities in to help improve your students’ comprehension and fluency. Many activities designed to help students with comprehension skills and other language functions allow students to have a passage read aloud. If you wish for your students to read more passages without any audio support, look for the following icons: 1 1 2 2 When this icon appears in the bottom right-hand corner, students are having the story read aloud. You can see the text highlighted in purple as the story or passage is read to your student. When this icon appears, your student must read the passage to him or herself. The text is not highlighted because it is not being read aloud.
