Title of Intervention: Listening Passage Preview 2
Purpose: To improve student’s oral reading fluency and reading comprehension
Age/Grade level: Elementary Aged Children grades K- 5
Format: Check all that apply

Materials Needed: Reading Book
Frequency/Duration: Two to three times per week
Intervention Script:
Step 1:
Preparation
Sit with student and position the book so that both of you can see it, or have two
books
Step 2:
Introduction
Say: “We will be reading together. I will read aloud first while you follow along
silently. Then it is your turn to read the same part aloud”
Step 3: Implementation
Say “let’s begin”, read for the passage for approximately 2 minutes. Use your
finger as a guide if you are with a younger reader. After 2 Minutes stop reading
and say “Now it is your turn to read. If you come to a word that you do not
know I will help you with it”. Correct the student if they make any errors, or if
they hesitate for longer than 3 – 5 seconds. After the correction, have the
student continue to read. Continue taking turns until the passage is finished.
Data Collection: CBM oral reading fluency probes can be administered weekly to see if there is
an improvement in the student’s score. Comprehension questions can also be asked to ensure
that the student understands the material.

Procedures for Documenting Integrity:
- Ensure that the person doing the intervention with the child has a complete script
and a set of clear instructions
- The school psychologist can observe the intervention in progress, or have the
interventionist make an audio recording of the session. The School Psychologist can
also make a form for the teacher to complete each time the intervention is
implemented with the date and the title of the passage that was read (see example).
