Earnings and Productivity Statistics in December 2012 The average employment since January 2012 was 6,918 thousand, increased by 112 thousand (or 1.65%) than the same period of last year. The average accession rate from January 2012 to December 2012 was 2.28%, down by 0.26% than the same period of last year. The average separation rate was 2.19%, decreased by 0.15% than the same period of last year. The average working-hour since January 2012 was 178.4 hours, decreased by 0.3 hours than the same period of last year. The average monthly earnings since January 2012 was NT$45,888, increased by 0.30% than the same period of last year, while the real average earnings fell 1.60%. The average regular earnings since January 2012 was NT$37,346, which was 1.28% more than the same period of last year. The real regular earnings fell 0.64%. The average labor productivity index since January 2012 was 0.73% less than the same period of last year, while the unit output labor cost index since January 2012 was reported 2.47% increasing. Employees In December 2012, the total nonagricultural payroll employment, at 6,965 thousand, increased by 9 thousand (or 0.12%) than last month. Among all industries, the service sector had shared 54.59%. Over the year, payroll employees increased by 83 thousand (or 1.20%). The average employment since January 2012 was 6,918 thousand, increased by 112 thousand (or 1.65%) than the same period of last year. The industrial sector increased 1.23% and the service sector increased 2.00%. Among all industries, the employees increased mostly in Wholesale and Retail Trade and Manufacturing (34 thousand) , followed by Accommodation and Food Services (17 thousand). Turnover Rate The average accession rate within industry and service sectors in December 2012 came to 1.77 percent, decreased by 0.15 percent point than last month and increased by 0.01 percent than the same month of last year, while the separation rate of 1.65 percent, down by 0.19 percentage point than last month and remained the same as last December. The average accession rate from January 2012 to December 2012 was 2.28 percent, down by 0.26 percent than the same period of last year. Between them, the industrial sector decreased by 0.27 percentage point and the service sector decreased by 0.25 percentage point. The average separation rate was 2.19%, down by 0.15 percent than the same period of last year. The industrial sector decreased by 0.15 percentage point, the service sector decreased 0.16 percentage point. Earnings The average monthly regular earnings per employee at the industry and service sector in December 2012 was NT$37,499, 0.52% more than last month and 0.44% more than the same month of last year. Average monthly earnings (including regular and irregular earnings) in December was NT$47,718. Comparing with last month and a year ago, there were 19.17% and 4.30% increasing respectively, mainly influenced by the year-end bonuses and production bonuses of some establishments granted. The average regular earnings since January 2012 was NT$37,346, which increased 1.28% than the same period of last year. The irregular earnings (including year-end bonuses, performance bonuses and overtime paid) was NT$8,542, which decreased 3.75% than the same period of last year. Together with regular and irregular earnings, the average monthly earnings since January 2012 was NT$45,888, increased by 0.30 percent than the same period of last year. After deflating by the consumer price index increasing rate (1.93%), the real average earnings fell 1.60% and the real regular earnings fell 0.64%. Hours of work The average monthly hours of work for industry and service sector in December 2012 totaled to 179.0 hours, which decreased by 4.0 hours from last month and decreased by 6.3 hours from the same month of last year. The average working-hour since January 2012 was 178.4 hours, which decreased by 0.3 hours than the same period of last year. The industries with the most decreasing working hours was Education (2.7 hours), followed by Manufacturing (1.2 hours). Labor Productivity and Unit Output Labor Cost In December 2012, the manufacturing sector's labor productivity index was 127.18 (2006=100), increased by 0.81% than last month and up by 5.82% than the same month of last year. The manufacturing unit output labor cost index was 84.98 (2006=100), up by 19.72% than last month and increased by 3.34% than the same month of last year. The average labor productivity index since January 2012 was 0.73% less than the same period of last year, while the unit output labor cost index since January 2012 was reported 2.47% increasing. The statistical data were revised since January 2009. 6. Refer to the revision of Industrial Production Index by the Economic Department, the labor productivity indexes and unit output labor cost indexes of 2012 were adjusted.
