Earnings and Productivity Statistics in December 2011 In December 2011, the total nonagricultural payroll employment, at 6,921 thousand, increased by 7 thousand (or 0.10%) than last month. In comparison with December 2010, payroll employees increased by 169 thousand (or 2.50%). The average employment since January 2011 was 6,845 thousand, increased by 204 thousand (or 3.08%) than the same period of last year. The average monthly hours of work in December 2011 was 185.2 hours, increased by 1.6 hours from last month and decreased by 6.5 hours from December 2010. The average working-hour since January 2011 was 2.5 hours less than the same period of last year. The average monthly earnings was NT$45,641, which was 14.44% more than last month and 2.80% more the same month of last year. The accumulated average labor productivity index since January 2011 was 3.42% more than the same period of last year, while the unit output labor cost was reported 1.11% increasing. Turnover Rate The average accession rate within industry and service sector in December 2011 was 1.74%, decreased by 0.26% from last month and decreased by 0.24% from last December. While the separation rate of 1.64%, decreased by 0.21% from last month and was down 0.12% from last December. The average accession rate from January 2011 to December 2011 was 2.53%, down by 0.15% from the corresponding period of last year. The industrial sector decreased by 0.23% and the service sector decreased by 0.08%. The average separation rate was 2.33%, down by 0.06% from the same period of last year. The industrial sector remained the same as last year, while the service sector decreased by 0.11%。 Earnings Average monthly earnings (including regular and irregular earnings) per employee at the industry and service sector in December 2011 was NT$45,641. Comparing with last month and a year ago, there was 14.44% and 2.80% increasing respectively. The average regular earnings in December was NT$37,262, increased by 0.72% from last month and up by 1.43% than the same month of last year. The average monthly regular earnings since January 2011 was NT$36,803, increased by 1.47% from the same period of last year. The average irregular earnings was NT$8,839, increased by 8.33% from the same period of last year. Together with regular and irregular earnings, the average monthly earnings since January 2011 was NT$45,642, which was 2.73% more than the same period of last year and reached the highest level in history. After deflating by the Consumer Price Index increasing rate (1.42%), the real average earnings rose 1.29% and the real regular earnings rose 0.04%. Hours of work The average monthly hours of work (including regular and overtime) for industry and service sector in December 2011 totaled to 185.2 hours, increased by 1.6 hours from last month and down by 6.5 hours from the same month of last year. The average working-hour since January 2011 was 178.7 hours, decreased by 2.5 hours from the same period of last year. Comparing with the same period of last year, the industries with the most decreasing working-hour was education industry that reported 4.0 hours decreasing, followed by water supply and remediation services industry which showed 3.8 hours decreasing. Labor Productivity and Unit Output Labor Cost In December 2011, the manufacturing sector's labor productivity index was 120.19 (2006=100), increased by 0.15% from last month and down by 6.57% from the same month of last year. The manufacturing unit output labor cost index was 82.23 (2006=100), up by 12.34% from last month and increased by 13.47% from the same month of last year. The average labor productivity index since January 2011 was 3.42% more than the same period of last year, while the unit output labor cost index since January 2011 was reported 1.11% more.
