Practicum – A 600-hour practicum, usually completed in summer, but also possible on a part-time basis
(two days per week) during the academic year. Placements are offered in clinical neuropsychology, geriatric psychology, rehabilitation, and memory intervention. The setting is a multidisciplinary centre in which programs designed to meet the medical, emotional, and social needs of older people are provided.
A particular emphasis will be on neuropsychological assessment procedures and the use of cognitive retraining techniques. Experience in counselling approaches and therapeutic interventions with the brain damaged will also be offered.
The student will be involved in separate rotations in multidisciplinary hospital programs of Rehabilitation
Medicine, Behavioural Neurology and Psychiatry. Practicum students will participate in Behavioural
Neurology, Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry Programs. Weekly clinical seminars are offered in Behavioural
Neurology, Neuropsychology and Speech Therapy. A staff of three psychologists will provide supervision.
