Gudgeon 1 Kelli Gudgeon Professor Bindman ELIB 550 6 July 2011 Personality and Leadership Analysis According to the Jung Typology Test™ I am an INTJ (Introverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging) personality type (Jung). I am moderately expressed introvert, intuitive and thinking and very expressed judging. This combination is considered a “Rational-Mastermind” temperament (Jung). This profile accurately describes my personality. The Big Five profile revealed that I am open minded, somewhat introverted, and fairly calm (Potter). My learning style is multimodal. I am able to learn in all ways and I am strongest in reading/writing and visual (Fleming). In reading the descriptions I gained insight as to how my personality and leadership style can positively and negatively affect a program and other team members. The profile written by Marina Margaret Heiss states that INTJs may have several areas of expertise and are willing and able to share what they know as well as what they don’t know. INTJs tend to be perfectionists and are always striving to improve (Heiss and Butt). I find this to be true and in most cases it has been an asset. As a teacher, I am very reflective. I am constantly striving to improve on lessons, deciding what works and what doesn’t, looking for new information or strategies to help my students. I have a strong work ethic which is a characteristic of the INTJ type. I will work until the job is not only done, but done well. Although I am generally a positive and encouraging person, when my idea of hard wok and dedication is not on par with people I work with I may either push too hard or just take over and do the job myself. On the positive side, I do acknowledge and give credit to the people that have made contributions to a project. Gudgeon 2 I am striving to recognize that the strengths and work habits of others may be just as effective as my own. While I maintain high standards for responsibility, quality of work and efficiency, I do my best to respect different personality types and natural abilities. Professional Goals 1) I have to finish and submit a research paper for the last English class that I need in order to add and English Subject Matter Authorization to my credential. 2) I plan to complete three Library courses (including this one) by December. 3) I am going to apply for the Grand Terrace High School Librarian position when it posts in October with an emergency credential. 4) When I get the position…I plan to make the new Library Media Center the place to be. I will develop relationships with staff; set up the facility so that it is inviting and offers what students and teachers need; and promote the facility and its services on campus and in the community.
