Gordon Barr, and Sheila Ogg Council Ken Craig and Randy Roppel and Anne Eadie are to be alternate. Background Last October we presented a plan for an open building with washrooms and a kitchen. Council was very supportive of the concept of building a community center at Inverhuron The estimated cost of $396 tabled at the Capital Budget meeting In May 2014 council approved going ahead with an open air structure with washrooms as an alternative. Estimated cost The cost estimate for this structure is $375,000 including utilities hook up Council has requested the Committee to look at design build options to lower the cost. Value While this structure is a step forward towards having a community center, we feel it has limited value without a kitchen and will look for alternate funding methods to ad one. Future Development The current design will support enclosing the building and heating it in the future so that activities could occur year round. The best option to get there is by phasing the total project. The current initiative is the first phase. The Kincardine Council have put $ 50,000.00 in the 2014 Budget to support work this year The Inverhuron Committee The Inverhuron Committee is continuing to follow the process of the Federal Joint Review Panel that is studying Ontario Power Generation's proposal to build a geologic repository for the disposal of both low and, more importantly, intermediate level nuclear waste on the Bruce site. Past Newsletters are available on the IDRA website. If you wish to be on the emailing list please contact: martimcfadzean@live.com A March Newsletter has just been issued. There are many very important recent developments in the process. Every resident should be aware of these developments. Two of the most recent include a leak at the only working repository in the United States and a communication from a recently retired Ontario Power Generation research scientist who severely criticizes the data being used to determine the amount of radiation in the waste. The process will continue all summer". The Inverhuron Committee Inc.
